Yes true there is way more than 2 parts on the unit. What I meant was that the units were designed to fail in two ways. When I took the Mitsubishi Mr Slim Mini Split system service course, the instructors taught us that one of the two 'safeties' will always fail first to protect the rest of the components.

If I go big on the main room and one in each bedroom, do I need anything for the bathrooms and closets? I had contemplated some type of quiet inter-room fan, but I could be way off mark on that. Any ideas on cooling them?
I guess it all depends of you want those areas cooled or heated. You could put faux vents in above the door to have air circulate into the two rooms. A 2/2.5 ton multi-zone system should suffice what you need to cool/heat that living area. Mitsubishi units can have 4 separate zones.

I'm a licensed HVAC contractor here in Texas, and I can tell you that hands down Mitsubishi is the king of mini splits.

They offer SEER ratings of over 30! They are rated at quieter than a whisper, and that is no lie.

The indoor unit can be wall mounted, flush ceiling mounted, or even ducted in the attic similar to a traditional split system.

I've installed literally hundreds of these things, and I've had very, very few issues with them. Every issue has dealt with condensate pumps going bad. If you get one of these, be sure your contractor installs it in an exterior walls so everything can simply run right outside.
