DPF Delete and problems with passing inspections

As I am researching options on my truck, I came across another good modification - DPF delete. Problem is (as I understand it) it requires re,moval of cat conv among other things in the exhaust line. How does one pass inspections with a cat conv removed?

    School me.

Find you a good spot that doesn't check or doesn't care. Probably won't get any leads here on that though. Guess you could swap back and forth but that would be a huge pain.

Texas doesn't do emissions testing on diesels...yet.

I've been deleted for a few years and never had a problem passing an inspection.

Had no idea. I thought the cat v was one piece vehicles were required to have for any inspection (even before the emissions) thing came up. Probably Wil go with both the egr and dpf deletes.

I called my local inspection guy I like to use. I wanted to know the same question as the OP. He said exactly what Ryan just did... except the YET was emphasized a little harder.

I'm in an emissions county (Brazoria) and he gave me the impression that he fully expects a diesel emissions test in the near future.

Just because Texas does perform emissions test on diesels, Texas does have a visual inspection on all emissions components. It will not pass if a shop is actually doing their state duties.

When they hooked up the obd2 for emissions cause they thought my truck was a gas model, i knew I'd found the wrong place for repairs and the right place for inspections.

I've been getting inspections for several years with no exhaust components

If they change the law to do emissions testing would you have to put the cat v back in?
Is this something you/ anyone could do at home ?
Do you have to have a programmer to take it out of the computer?
Our do you have engine check light on ?

Sorry don't want to be a thread thief just very curious about this because I've heard it's the best thing for the longevity of the diesel engine.

If they require testing a 2007 or later truck won't pass without it. It'll be a sad day in tejas.

my truck is deleted, but my friend owns the inspection station. If you are worried find a diesel shop that guts out the factory exhaust parts. A buddy of mine owns a diesel shop and they do it all the time. Also if you delete the egr system try an make the replacement parts look factory. The egr cap off plates usually have a brand logo or and are powder coated. U may want to get some flat black or dull silver paint to make those parts blend in.

This. Do a ghost delete by gutting it all and keeping the stock look

Doesn't mean it's legal buddy. Removing emissions is a federal offense and is punishable by up to $10,000. And if a shop is performing the inspection they are supposed to, your truck would NOT pass. I'm a licensed state inspector.

Quote honestly unless a vehicle is brand new, it's almost impossible to actually have it in compliance to get a sticker. There are ssoooo many rules and regulations. We can always find something
