    Only in West Texas.....

Can you have 8 days out of 16 of near record rainfall, & still have a dust storm!

    Gotta love the high plains!

We were just thinking the same thing. Tried to upload a photo but couldn't.

Only place on earth you can be *** deep in a mud hole and get hit it the face by blowing dirt.

I got a taste of the weather out there when I stayed at Dalhart. There were tornadic storms that took out a bunch of irrigation pivots the next day.

My relatives used to grow cotton and peanuts around Lubbock. I remember one telling me of the time he, his brother, and dad got caught in a bad dust storm when they were all out planting. Think that was in the late 1940's.

Rain makes the land "blow" way worse. It makes the rough dirt clods busted up and smooth sand which is prime to blow. I remember watching everyone scrambling around hauling butt plowing with a rotary hoe when it started blowing after a rain when I was a kid up there.

Only place I have ever been where you can get mud on your windshield during a rain shower.

Sandfighters. Couldn't sand fight now even if they wanted too, lots of standing water & "sink to your axels" kind mud in fields

When I first moved up here in the mid 70's, I saw in one day the wind blow, dust blow, brown rain and then finally brown snow. All while we were going to a district track meet in Denver City.
Like they have always said, if you don't like the weather up here, wait 15 minutes, it will change.
60% chance of rain beginning tomorrow night and lasting all week now.

We moved to east Texas 15 years ago and my wife still says almost weekly that she misses the weather in the Panhandle...I tell her she is misremembering LOL! She says she misses the excitement of the weather changes and having 4 seasons. I grew up working in it so the only 2 seasons I remember are freaking hot and windy or freaking freezing and windy!
