Yeah hunting acorns on 4000 acres of solid oaks is a great technique. My big deer is going to be on tree #12,864 of 25,067 oaks on opening day at 7 am. ...Guaranteed because I spent a day scouting beforehand.. ...
Deer will still eat corn. Feed it and they will come.
Disagree with that, at least up here. If a deer has a bean/wheat/corn field plus ulimited white oak acorns, they're not coming to a feeder unless they happen to stumble by.
Places I hunt down here are so thick with underbrush that it is almost impossible to hunt anywhere other than a road, without doing some kind of clearing. When the acorns are thick, it takes a little longer sometimes. But the deer still eat the corn. I don't hunt over my feeders very often (except in Mexico). I prefer hand corn. Feeders are there to keep the does hanging around.
Not a lot of folks left that still know how to do that. And or. Most do not want to put out the effort. Driving up to the box 30 min before the feeder goes off is too easy...
One way to tip the scale in your favor...find a nice spot that is to your advantage...fertilize several oaks....set up your stand...works for me.
