First smoke on the Primo XL!

Threw a butt on this morning around 9. Figured I couldn't screw pulled pork up on the first go around. So far I'm loving the thing. I've had it for a week or so and have made some awesome steaks, chicken, pizza, and some not so awesome steaks on the first cook. There is definitely a learning curve but tinkering is the fun part.

What temperature are you smoking at?

If I had both the top and bottom vents wide open like you do in your picture my Primo XL would be at 700degrees!

biggest thing is dont over shoot your temp once you go over it takes a while to go back
down. if im shooting for 250 ill run it wide open till i hit 200 then close the vents to where ill get close to 250 and creep up to it. once you make an adjustment to the vent give it 20 or 30 min to react. a little movement in the vent goes a long way in temp. or you can cheat and get a DiGi Q, i recommend learn the vent system first

What are you smoking with? The wood lump charcoal or something else?
