    San Diego

Headed there this summer for a nephews wedding. Gonna also spend a few days to take in the sights. What are the must do? I have a 15 and 21 yr old daughters, plus wife. We have never been on that side of the world. Not crazy about Cali but the wedding takes us there.

Don't wanna drive more then needed and want to stay in the area. Ideas?

San Diego is awesome. Beautiful weather. Check into renting kayaks and paddling around La Jolla. It's a blast and you see so much. For some night life hit up the gas lamp district.

Was there for an archery tourney not long ago. Check into the bus tours you have all day and get on and off as often as you want. They go all over (docks, coronado island, spanish village for lack of a better term) but great way to see area.

It's an awesome place! I really enjoy going out there and visiting which I am going to in June. The zoo is awesome, old town, the trolley, watching the sun set on the cliffs, la Jolla. I will prob think of some more here in a little bit

Great zoo. Took a high performance glider ride out there once.

What types of things do you guys normally like to do? I've been stationed back out here for the past 18 months. Feel free to pm as I'm not always on here.

                          great place to visit.
Ive stayed @ the US Grant, its on the upper end of the gas lamp district, walking distance to dang everything. I highly recommend it.

they have segway tours there that are a blast.

tommyH goes out there a couple of times a year for work, he'll have some spots also.

I was stationed there for 2 1/2 years, well, just north of there at Camp Pendleton. So California really is a beatiful place to go visit. I wouldn't want to live there permanently though.there is quite a bit to do.
Coronado Island is cool. That's also where B.U.D.S. is located. So, if you see some guys getting tortchered on the beach there, they're trying to become SEALS.
I'd also hit the San Diego Zoo. It's one of the best in the world, so they say. I don't know about that, but it is very good.
The Gaslamp District is cool for night life.
My favorite restaurant out there is called The Fish Market. It's located right on the bay.
When you land, look to the opposite side of the runway from the terminal. You'll see a chain link fence and a bunch if military looking buildings. And an obstacle course. That is Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. That's where the Corps is steadily cranking out more warriors. Marine Corps boot camp. If you're into Military History, they allow tours of a portion of the boot camp facility. It's really a pretty nice looking place. There's also a museum about the Marine Corps there that's pretty good.
If the ladies would like to do some shopping g while out there the malls are a bit different from here. They're almost all out door malls. They can do that there because the weather is so consistently great. It's kind of a neat change of pace to get outside in the sunlight while shopping.
