    Van Tornado Victims Need Help

My good friend and Van resident tells me that there is an opportunity for good people to roll their sleeves up and help with some of the clean up. If you are interested and can afford to donate some of your time for a very worthy cause, they are taking reservations for cleanup, training and briefing at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church in Van. Volunteers will be working with Samaritans Purse.

Thank you so much for considering this good deed. Those folks got hit hard and could really use the help. I am assuming that they could use trailers, chainsaws, that kind of thing too.

Might check, last I read they were limiting access to Van to residents.

That was this morning so it might have changed

A couple of the best things to show up in Tuscaloosa were:
          1. The Tide trailer where people could drop off their laundry and pick it up later
          2. The Duracell trailer for recharging and batteries.

Take sunscreen if you are going up there to help.

          Samaritan's Purse is great.

My buddy who lives in Van sent me this. It is sad that they have to worry about looting so there will be some kind of screening process but they definitely need people to help.

I know they need the help, just trying to give a heads up before someone drives a long way to be told they can't get in to help.

Gonna take a bit of time and a lot of manpower to get it all straightened back up

Local news says there is a strong law enforcement prescence to deter looters and thieves

Good to hear that law enforcement is on top of this. If there is one thing that makes my blood boil, it's criminals that would take advantage of people who have had their lives torn apart like this. That is lower than low.

Thus the reason for screening volunteers.
