The Himalayas are growing due to India moving northward into Asia.


If you look at the Hawaiian island/emperor seamount island chain, you will see an abrupt change in angle. This coincides with the collision of India with Asia. This collision changed the movement direction of the Pacific Plate.

The Hawaiian islands are caused by a hot spot in the earth's mantle that stays relatively in the same place, and the islands form as the Pacific plate moves over it.
