    Generators flying out of Costco...

My dad decided this morning that he wanted a backup generator so naturally he delegated that task to me...I was going to Costco anyway and found a 5000kw at a good price and bought it...just while I was loading it (maybe took ten minutes to bring the truck up and load) 5 more generators came out the door...they are probably out of them by now...

They are saying if it comes in around Corpus we could get up to Cat 1 winds in San Antonio. I live in the "heavily wooded" part of town and we could have a lot of downed power lines. Thinking about it now, I should have bought one too...With Costco's great return policy I could have taken it back Monday if I didn't need it LOl.

Thats what I am afraid of too. I have already made plans to head to Blanco and bail on this mobil home if it looks like it is going to get to hairy.

Question: Do you get a window AC unit to use with the generator(s) ???? Or is it just for a refrigerator , freezer and a lamp or two???? If it is HOT as hadies why would I want to use my generator for 2 days - 2 weeks after a storm??? Am I misssing something. Heck, my 5,000 Honda has not been used for more than 2 hours in total for the last 10 years I have owned it! HElp my thinking on this whole generator thing?

I've already been able to rationalize that...

if the power stays off, and it looks like it's going to be off a while, I'm going to go buy one of those window units. I was at lowes yesterday, and they've got about 100-150 of them in the seasonal area on sale right now.

most of them are under $150....

you can barely stay in a hotel for that price.
