    Lab breeders

    Guys and gals,

We unfortunately had to put one of our dogs down...sad deal. But now we are in the market for a nice hunting bloodline lab.

Any recommendations are welcome.looking to spend around 1000-1500 for the right dog.

    Who should I call?

    Thanks!

Try Good Lab Outfitters out of Fredericksburg, all of their dogs have premium pedigrees. My yellow has turned into a heck of a lap dog, but she has a top notch bloodline.

Get the dog that fits you and forget all of the Labrador racism. They can all be geniuses as long as their owner isn't a complete moron.

The Retriever Academy in OK. Derek was a great guy to deal with and is a great trainer.

As far as color; if you look at trials and hunt tests there are more blacks than yellows and not many chocolate. That being said chocolates have come a long way in the last few years. If you do your homework you should be able to find a great dog in whichever color you want.

You may want to see what Iron Spike Kennels has coming.

Dawn has a good reputation as a solid breeder

Drakes Sporting Dogs in Spring has a fantastic litter that they may still have a pup or 2 left out of. As for color, that's a personal preference. My BLM Mojo turned 2 today and has is HR title and is SH title.

Here's my girl Tess from the Drakes litter. She was exactly 9 weeks at this pic. She will be running her 1st hunt test end of the month at just over 3 months.

If for some reason you decide you want a chocolate, Joe Perron with Champion Retrievers from Pineville, La. is about the only place I'd go.

Good luck with your choice. Labs are something special.
