My cousin just found out his kiddo was given a prescription sleeping pill on the bus today by an older kid. He was told it was ice breaker candy. His kid is 11...and the kid passing out the "candy" is a fifth grader. Needless to say my cousin will be up at the school handling it tomorrow. It serves as a warning though...kids need to even be leery of candy given out by other friends. I've got a 6mo old...I feel like I'm going to have to teach him to doubt everyone and everything. Tough way to grow up.

As with most things, the general population has their heads up their rears. I have a 15b, 14g, and 7b and I constantly surprised at the stories they bring home. I wasn't one to get into trouble when I was younger (knew not to get caught) but I did hang around sketchy people from time to time. The difference from when I was in HS in the late 90's until now is light years difference.
Teach your kids, warn them, make them not trust people so they don't get taken advantage of.
Here is a quick story not related to drugs but our current school situation. A couple months ago a little boy in my son's 2nd grade class told him he was going to kill him. His father had made him a (crude) ninja star out of metal and he brought it to school and threatened my son. It probably would not have killed him, but was good enough to put out an eye, nice puncture wound or good cut. My son informed the teacher and sure enough she found it in his bag. Nobody called my wife or I, my son told us when he got home. So wife was ******!!! We were not sure what to do...kids will be kids but you never know these days. So we called the principle next day and she suggested that out son move classes. Our son, you know not the one on medication for ADHD and not threatening other kids. So we suggested they move the other kid and she did not want to upset his schedule. So my wife called the school cops to get involved for a police report to be made. Once the cops were involved the principal's attitude changed and the kid was in the office for about two weeks and moved classes. Point of my story is nobody but you is going to protect your kids...especially when you are at work earning a living and they are at school. Handing out prescription meds as a ruse is dangerous. At least make a report to the principal and see where it goes.
I will add, I am not the ratting type either, just didn't know what else to do.Last edited by raceruss2003; 05-07-2015, 07:48 PM.
