You would have to have a real small head, he was only about 10-12" long

I don't want my foot swole up and I seem to remember a member posting on here last year or maybe 2 that neighbor was bitten and had heart attack and died. So I disagree with not being a threat to your health

No venomous snakes get a pass that close to my house either

Maybe not, but definitely a threat to the bank account when a trip to the ER is in order for a bite.

Appears to be a young FEMALE copperhead the light colored ones are the females and the bright copper ones are the males in my terms a dead snake is the best snake

It a Southern Copperhead, not Broad-Banded.

That makes me feel all the better about killing it, won't be having no babies for me to watch out for.
Not sure how many are in a "litter" or whatever you call a nest of baby snakes but I have been on high alert every time I am out in the yard and told the kids to keep an eye out

I knew it was a copperhead, had just been talking about the juveniles with one of my docs yesterday and how they were aggressive and had the bright tails

It's funny, I did some work for Jamie a couple of years ago and he invited me to camp for a meal. Sitting there, looking around I asked if everybody in camp wore boots at all times. He said no, why. I said this is for sure copperhead country. I wouldn't go outside to pee without putting on boots.
It's absolutely amazing how many he has killed out there since then.
