    Warranty question for you guys

My wife's car has a transmission issue. Her car is under warranty but the parts are on back order. The issue keeps getting worse and we are afraid it is going to leave her stranded.

Is the dealership legally bound to provide us alternate transportation while waiting for the parts to arrive?

I would think that since it is their parts that are failing, that Ford should have some sort of program to keep us on the road but the guy at the dealership is telling me to get a rental car. I'm not about to pay for a rental for possibly five weeks out of my pocket if I don't have to.

What is you guys' experience with something like this.

    Thanks.

I had the same problem once. After a lengthy discussion they gave me a loaner car. They aren't going to offer that up right off the bat though. They reserve those for the insistent customers, at least that's how it appears to me.

Push the issue and you will get a loaner or a rental. I went thru it with my truck also a few years ago.

I would not by a vehicle from a dealership that does not offer this. Any time I have had to have work done on my Ford truck they have offered a loaner, even for something as simple as an oil change. To get things done skip talking to you service department...talk to you salesman.

My daughter just had to have her transmission rebuilt on her Ford and they gave her a car to drive while it was in the shop. If your car is drivable and they are waiting on the part before you put it in the shop, that maybe why they will not give you a loaner.

I just got off of the phone with Ford customer service. The lady there opened a trouble ticket and sent an email to the service manager to "open up more options" to help us. I am waiting on the svc manager to call me back. I will let you guys know how it goes.

The service manager from Southwest Ford called me and said they would be paying for a rental car for my wife until they get her car fixed. I can't say enough nice things about the people I dealt with today.

It all depends on the dealership. Some are easier to deal with than others! There is one here that I wouldn't buy a car from if I had to walk the 36 miles one way to work everyday all do to service issues!!!!

It is a 2013 Ford Focus. I will absolutely be buying a ford again next time I go car shopping.
