I have spent HOURS looking up reviews all over the internet. It looks like the Salomon Quest 4D GTX or Quest 4D II GTX or Quest 4D DLX GTS, Lowa Renegade GTX, Merrel Moab (many variations), Asolo TPS 520 GV, Keen Targhee, and the Vasque St. Elias DTX or Breeze 2.0 are all ranked and reviewed pretty high in many different reviews. The Salomon Quest 4D GTX and the Lowa Renegade GTX being the top 2.

Ok well I am not sure if anyone is still following this but to recap I am flat footed and have had to see the foot doc and have custom made orthotics with hard plastic bottom. I am looking for a good boot for spot and stalk hunts where I will pack in a few miles loaded down pack 60lbs or so and then spot and stalk with a lighter pack say around 20lbs maybe more then pack out a few miles loaded down.
I have tried on:
Lowa Renegade
Salomon Quest 4D GTX
Vasque Breeze 2.0 GTX
They all had amazing reviews every where I looked. They seem like good quality boots but didn't seem to offer the arch support and seemed rather flat in the sole to begin with.
Cabela's Full Draw
This one fit pretty good but I worry about the grip of the bot on terrain and support carrying a pack. While walking around the store at the base of the toes and end of the laces where the toe broke over/bent was very uncomfortable and would probably bruise my feet pretty good before I got them broke in if that would go away once broke in. I have a buddy that loves his but it didn't seem right to me to have much of an uncomfortable spot to break in.
Cabelas Ultralight Hunter by Meindl
These fit pretty good also and felt like adding an insole wouldn't offer any problems with the fit of the boot either. I liked the height of the boot and support. Again I worried about the overall support of the sole of the boot while carrying a pack.
Merrell Moab Peak
This boot fit pretty well also and felt pretty good maybe a slight narrow on the fit if anything.
Keen boots in general- Durand Mid WP
Keen seemed to fit the best they offered the arch support and seemed to have a stout enough sole to handle a pack and still have some flexibility. The toe hard plenty of room and little if any slip of the heel.
The Durand Mid WP
Seemed to be the best one I tried on the fit as described above was a higher fitting
boot above the ankle.
