    Sand target

Has anyone on here ever made a sand box target to shoot in to. It looks like it would work and from what I read it does no harm to the arrows.

A place we hunted in Africa had one. It seemed to work well, didn't damage the arrows, but we only used it to warm up.

I attempted to make one 20+ yrs ago. Having never seen one I winged it.

      It had a plywood back.
About a 1' lip at the front making the bottom hold 1' of sand.
It was filled with sand sloping front to back.
It was about 3' front to back so the depth of sand that stopped the arrow was 3'.

It did not stop the arrows. The arrow went thru the 3' of sand and hit the plywood back every time.

I would love to make another that works. I would image that after ALOT of shots the arrow would eventually start showing wear but it would still be cheaper than replacing targets.
