    Stabil? Or something else?

    Hey guys,

Question for y'all with more captaining experience than me (rather, those more mechanically inclined than me). My boat has been sitting for a really long time, probably over 1.5yrs and is going to get brought back into service here soon (50hp yamaha 2 stroke). Before I go through the process of sprucing it back into life, I figure I need to treat the engine with something. I was going to run some stabil through it, put in about a gallon of gas, then hook up the boot and see about getting it to turn over. Anyone have a thought or suggestion on this?

Startron Enzyme Fuel Treatment is what I use.

The longer it is mixed with the gas the better it works. I try to let it sit for a least a day after I mix it before I use it.

I use stabil every time I put gas in and seems to do the trick. If it has been sitting I would make sure all the old gas is out try and clean the tank if its accessible then add some Seafoam and let her run for awhile.

Leo - do you just put a little fresh gas in the tank, at the Startron, give the pump a prime, and let it sit? Or do you immediately try to bust it off once and let it sit after that?

I use stabil, but I put in the can as soon as I buy gas (don't have boat- lawnmowers and such) when I have one that's been setting. I drain it and clean it up as much as I know how then put fresh gas with seafoam or some type of fuel booster/cleaner through it until I get running smooth again. I've killed 2 lawnmowers and 2 weedeaters leaving gas in them, can't afford a new one every year or two, I'm fairly diligent with draining gas and uses fuel stabilizers now days.

Dont use the gas that was in it... just being sure you know that

I'm trying SEAFOAM in about ten minuteson one to see if it helps... i'll let you know

I use both the Star Tron and Stabil. The Star Tron to kill the alcohol and StaBil to give the gas longer life.

Put the Startron in the gas, put it in the tank, give it a prime and let it sit 24hrs.
