Boat guys, which is the best Depth Finder/GPS combo?

Looking at GPS/Fish finder combos and would appreciate any experiences with them. Also, does anyone have experience with the iPhone GPS apps like Trimble?

I have been out of the tournament game for a few years but always ran humminbird. The were the first with the imaging technology and I feel the best.

Hard to go wrong with anything hummingbird. They have multi function everything. Just be prepared to pay.

Simrad, Furuno, Garmin, Raymarine. In that order, IMO.

Went on a fishing trip with a guide last weekend on Livingston and he had a hummingbird. The side scanning he had was impressive

Agree for off shore equipment, not necessary for lakes and bays in my opinion.

I have a garmin and like it... not the best but it works. I think it is a 541s.

The apps work good and so does google earth but you cant see the screen with enough detail in the sun. I tried it but ducking under the console to see the screen is not the best way to operate a boat, haha.

Lowrance Elite 5 HDI is pretty nice. Academy had them for $299.

If I was going to get one for crappie it would probably be a Hummingbird. If I was getting one for saltwater on a smaller boat it would be a Lowrance HDS 12

I've got a Raymarine Dragonfly and been very impressed with both the simplicity and performance for the price. It produces picture like images of the bottom and I have no problems reading structure. I've seen detail in sunken boats in a couple of marinas and individual branches on trees. There are some really nice pictures of structure found with this unit if you search online. The thing I like the most is you don't have to tweak the unit to get these images, it's ready to go out of the box!

I'm going to use it for saltwater and really want to be able to punch in GPS coordinates to get to spots and know water depth. Nice to have would be speed, imaging, whatever else they do nowadays. Would Hate to spend over 300. Is there anything like that? Basic functions and reasonable?
