    damage from rear end collision

is there any typical hidden damage should I look for after being rear ended on my hitch?

Buick hit me while I was at a stop.

Sent from my SD4930UR using Forum Fiend v1.3.3.

I would think not since it is a Toyota but you might have the undercarriage bolts checked out to make sure. I've got the exact same Tundra myself. Best of luck.

This happened to me. It looked like less damage than yours but it turned out my axle was slightly bent which caused rear tires to wear out after 10-15000 miles. I'd have the frame and axle checked.

Get a 4 wheel alignment check and that will tale the tell. Alot of places will check it for free, get the specs (dont let them fix it) and let the insurance company know once you have the specs.

looks like it jacked up your hitch.

Check the frame rails where the hitch mounts to the frame.

Same thing happened to me about a year ago but my truck has a little lift so the guy ended up hitting the spare tire also. His bumper went under the receiver hitch and hit the spare. The receiver hitch ended up punching through his AC coil, transmission cooler and the radiator.

I got lucky and had nothing more than a scratched bumper but I did have everything checked just to be safe. It is well worth your time.

That happened to my wife and I on 35w a while back. A young guy with a few of his friends weren't paying attention to us stopping for construction. He was in a Neon. We were in an f250 with hitch. We had a little paint off the bumper. His hood was on his roof and the radiator was permanently embedded into his motor. Oil and radiator fluid everywhere. Total loss for him. I like big trucks.

I often wondered if you would be responsible for his damage. IMO I would say no but just curios. Not your fault his car was damaged.

I wonder if a vehicle causing a wreck has a big steel bumper that doesn't crumple, would that driver be responsible for more of the damage to the car they hit?

Big red trucks. Lol. I've been hit twice in the last 3 months in drive thru lines in my red F150. My truck is about 2" taller than stock. First car slid the hood right under the ball nut and cut a furrow in their hood. Second one hit the corner of the bumper. I'm seriously considering ranch hands. I attribute it to all the texting going on these days.
