Wayne said he had room for more dogs if ya'll are interested. I wanted to get my dogs "tuned up " early instead of trying to catch him at one of his clinics this summer. The snakes are already out in force so it's a good time to do it.

Wayne will take a rattle snake and de fang it and tape it's mouth closed so there's no way that it can hurt the dog. He will put the snake beside a tree or in a low spot ect... and then put a shock collar on the dog with a long lead rope. He will walk the dog up towards the snake ( usually down wind so the dog gets a chance to smell the snake by the time they see it. Most dogs when they see the snake go toward it out of curiosity and that's how they get bit in face . He times this and a lot of the time the snake will strike at the dog, and at that instant he shocks the dog. The dog absolutely thinks the snake caused the pain and it teaches them to not get around the snakes in the future. He does a couple of other things that teaches the dog to stay away also.
Wayne has been doing this for several years and is an expert trainer. He also takes all the time necessary to make sure every dog "gets it".
He puts on big clinics all over Texas and does in the neighborhood of 1000 dogs per year, so I think it's safe to say he knows what he's doing.
He furnishes the collar and lead rope. All you need is your dog, and a regular 4 'or 6 ' lead so you can maintain control of your dog while your there.
He's going to start at 8:00 in the morning and that way it will be cooler, and we will be finished in time to not tie up the whole day.
He ask me to let folks on here know about this, and we don't expect to have too big of a crowd so it will be fun.
Wayne ask me to bring some blood and a hide and I'm going to put out a blood trail while we're there too. A couple of the people that are coming are interested in watching the lacy dogs work.
My dogs have been snake trained several times, but I'm planning on putting the snake along the blood trail and see how that works. They won't get around a snake under normal circumstances but I've always been curious as to weather or not they would smell or see a snake in time to be stay safe while concentrating on a blood trail.
It will be interesting and fun. I hope ya'll can find time to come out and join us.

I have known Wayne my whole life and when it comes to snake training dogs, he is the best. He has trained all of our labs over the years and my lacy dogs will be at this coming up clinic. On a side note if any of yall come, you have to ask him about the stuffed Rattle Snake in a cooler at the ranch in Franklin and see what he has to say lol....funny story.

I'd love to go to this with my lacy as he just attacked a snake last weekend but the 10th is my anniversary and I'm too smart to miss that. Any more clinics up in N. Texas?
