    Compressor question

I want to put a new pump and motor on a tank I have. Anyone done this? Is it hard? Aside from the obvious of making sure the tank will handle the pressure, anything else I need to watch out for?

If you can match the mounting brackets, it should be easy. I've replaced a motor, but not the pump. Another option would be to mount the motor and pump on a metal base and you could put the tank some place else and just run pipe. I've thought about taking mine apart and putting everything in my garage attic out of the way. Assembled, it won't fit.

Would changing the motor make it keep up better?

Not really. I sell compressor motors at the shop. You just need to make sure you keep it the same rpm and frame size. What brand compressor do you have?

How old is your compressor? It may be a good idea to get a new tank if you havent drained frequently. They rust out from the inside and can becomeme very dangerous under pressure.

It's probably 15 years old. It stays drained. Of water and air. I think the set up on it is about a third of what it's rated for.
