I've had two older outboards with the type of problem you're decribing after they sat without running for a couple months. If they would start I would keep trying to run them as fast as I could until it blew the gunk out of the jets.

If they wouldn't start I paid the bucks to have the carbs cleaned.

    Good luck to you.

I'd run it real rich with seafoam since it's running. It's a cheap way to try and clean them out without tearing them apart. I also keep seafoam in my fuel as fuel stabilizer, has worked good for me so far.

        2 questions

One Ok this seafoam stuff. I just mix it with like 2 gallons of gas... and run it hard and fast until it is empty? then repeat?

Second power pack deal sounds BAD, talk to me about this

There's a third, don't run emerald green paint slightly deeper than the gs thru your carburetor.

Cats, carbs are pretty easy to pull off. The situation you described in my past has been the main jet. I've even pulled both carbs off and cleaned with a pair of needle nose pliers while in the campsite at Plowman Creek. I'm in Burleson if you want some help.

If there is gunk in the jet, seafoam may work, if it has trash/debris in the jet it will not help.
