    ISO a seasoned roping horse.......

I'm looking for a older roping horse that has been roped off of that's still got some life left, that someone wouldn't mind parting ways with. Thanks

Go back three years you could buy a great roping horse like you are describing for about $500...not sure where the market is now.

Good point. I'll add...calf roping or steer tripping? Arena roping or pasture?

Been in the rope horse business for a long time and I haven't ever seen a "Great" rope horse of any style go for 500. Sure wish I could have gotten ahold of some. I could have retired by now.

Your going to pay $3-4 k for a 17 year old and up that you can compete on.

I should have bought that roping horse but didn't want another horse on the feed bill at that time. But yes, there were some horses being DUMPED. Blood lines from 6666 and pitchfork were going for $300 at the OKc auction (not finished). We even gave one to our ferrier in trade for work so he could do some corrective work and keep the horse for ranch work because the trade was better than we could get from sale. It was ridiculous.

I've got a young mare that needs some finishing work, but am still riding my old cutting horse. I will be looking for something to calf/break away rope off in another year or so.

That's what I thought. You said "Great". We've had several great horses that ended up in the NFR and they were getting 125,000.

Like I said, if I could have gotten some great ropers for 500 I could have made a killing and been retired by now.

Ya, no I'm not talking about quarter million dollar horses for free, but some finished heading and calf roping horses for low purse local ropings for dirt cheap.

You are in a different class of cowboys with horses that expensive. Hell, my futurity baby who didn't place high in Ft Worth was only $5500 back in 2002.
