That's a really nice note. They stress about these stupid tests!

      Apperently she gets it!!

Book smart is a very small piece of the puzzle. If those tests really meant something, then I must have cheated my way through the real world.

Really nice gesture, and a very heartfelt letter.

Having said that basic math and reading are necessary regardless of "other" talent.

                Tests!?!

There is new legislation being voted on now that tells you how much sense our legislators make and how well respected teachers are. The first law states that a high school senior can fail 2 of the standardized tests but the district can pass them and allow then to graduate. While most agree with this because some kids are not test takers, it's the second one that is a kicker. The second one states that the standards to appraise teachers and their salaries are going to be based on their evaluations and their students test scores. So basically a teachers pay is going to based on a principal or appraisers subjective evaluation of a one day evaluation and the test scores from their students. I love being a teacher!!! SMH

Is that a form letter that many send out? The reason I ask is I saw the same letter on FB earlier and it wasn't you that posted what I saw. At least I'm pretty sure it wasn't you...

                        Well that's a buzz kill.

Still a nice gesture though I guess.

Nah, it doesn't change the sentiment behind it.

Yeah, there was a huge discussion about that here a week or so ago. It makes no sense, and I doubt it passes, but that someone had the balls to propose it blows my mind. Talk about teaching to the test. Imagine how bad it would be if your livelihood was dependent on it. That, and how would you ever get anyone to take a job in an inner city school where the test scores are well below the average?

That's greatness. That's a teacher who gets it, right there.
