As a current Ag teacher too much advise is not always good. I would get with someone that is current competitive and close to you and get with them for help. Your local Ag teacher or county agent is a good place to start as well. Not all show animals feed the same so taking it to someone like I suggested is a must. Hope this helps

heres some of this year. we had in our county show. we had the reserver grand junior yearling, the grand junior doe, the reserve and grand champion market wether, and the overall grand and reserve champion breeding doe's.

ill give my two pennies.......my brother nanny slammer and i are ag teachers and i raise alot of show goats (high end) goats and and have alot of time and money invested in some. i sold several wethers for that brazoria county show and fort bend as well. i sold several to harris county feeders that placed res. grand and grand at several jack pot shows and was a class champion.
so heres my spill on feed, we've tried them all and my top end choices on feed are the Showrite feeds, jacoby feeds and moormans amino gain goat. the sure champ and vita charge products are a must, it helps digestion and gives them the added boost of energy for proper digestion and absorbtion of feed. there are alot of other additives that are out there and its all what you want to spend $$ on.
as far as exercise the best advice i can give you is get a treadmill. put walls on it where the animal walks back wards on the machine. you only do this for 2-3 min tops every other day. increasing the speed gradually. remember were not trying to make long distance runners with these goats we are trying to make as much mass build in less time. and long distance running or track dogs burn to many calories. think of it as this, the more you run the more proteins and carbs you burn thus needing more of them to keep you sustained at an adequate amount for proper health. with this type of work out most dont understand the real problem and that is creating a long distance runner and not a muscle builder. how many body builders do you see running miles around a track to stay fit? NONE. exactly my point the more proteins and additives that will enhance their ability to put mass on is key essential in raising a proper well balanced goat. i could go on and on and keep going but i think its long enough brotha and i hope this helps!! let me know if i can help in any way man.

Good Ag teachers are few and far between. It sounds like y'all are running a good show up there, so kudo's to y'all.

We were buying Showrite goat feed from Larry Jackson at La Copa Ranch the first two years it was out and I just couldn't justify the $25/bag cost anymore. Jacoby products w/ Synergy have been stellar for us and I like the cost far better.

Right on the money with the exercise comments! We use a treadmill occasionally, but once my bud picked up Kelly Meat Goat's track dog, short, but intense sprints around the track became the norm. Plus, the belt on the treadmill ripped, which sucked.

By the way, I like that doe on the far left.

                            Muscle.
We fed intimidator when my son was showing. He did well with his goats. Grand and reserve champs as well as making the sales.
I would consider going to goat camp at A&M.
