No good. He doesn't sound to happy. Remington 700 BDL's had this issue also couple years ago.

Oh no! Another big issue is figuring out why the heck something like that is allowed to leave the factory!

It shouldnt. Even though it's a gun that is unsafe...we should always be pointing a gun in a safe direction. Not blaming a misfiring gun for bad gun safety.

Out of spec firing pin? Bur around the firing pin hole causing it to bind? Not too many things could cause that, since the hammer is still cocked. If the hammer was falling, theres a lot of thing could cause it.

I've seen ARs slam fire, but that's the first shotgun

Apparently the Remington 887 shotgun had a recall last year for this issue

I've got one of them, happened to me sighting in. I was squeezing the mess the out of the trigger and it wouldn't fire. I lifted my head, looked at my buddy and said "Dang thing won't fire... BOOM!". We both dropped our jaws and went what the ****! Jacked another one in it and BOOM as soon as the bolt closed. Remington of course repaired it for free, no issues since.

That would have been a pretty standard response from any dealer on a new gun issue. Not saying it's right, but that's what they do.
