    Wiring winch for Polaris Ranger

For you guys who have a winch on your ranger, does it matter if I wire it directly to the battery or can it be tied down to the accessory post under the hood?

I would go directly to the battery with a relay. Most of the winches come with a relay an fuse but if yours doesn't have them go ahead an wire them in.

Mine does have the relay and fuse with remote. I can wire it either way, but if both are 12v supply, what difference would it make? Just curious.

What ga wire is your winch, what ga wire runs to the acc post?

This is a good point. Winch cable is thick. 6-8 gauge. I think I'd be more comfortable wiring to the battery.

I dug around, and found the accessory bar is only rated for 15amps. I'm just gonna run it to the battery

The relay helps the contacts in the motor. Use the battery and not the posts

Shes wired. I wired it to the battery using 6ga wire. Works like a champ.
