I love turbos......on a diesel or high performance car that isn't my daily driver. Diesels are a completely different animal compared to a gas engine, so comparing the two is not even close to relevance.
I'm a die-hard Ford man, but the torture test Ford Directed on the Ecoboost was pure marketing......and it worked.

Is the hype not warranted? Have the turbos on the ecoboost posed a problem thus far? I'm just not convinced that the 5.0 V8 has yet proved to be a more reliable motor than the ecoboost. I know that some of the early ecoboosts had trouble in wet weather, but it's my understanding that this was fixed for 2013.

I haven't heard of very many problems related to the turbo.
It seems the most trouble is related to condensation in the intercooler causing shudders and limp mode. Supposedly Ford had said they have fixed these issues, but I still see several folks on other forums still having the issue on the newer trucks. I have also seen folks having to replace spark plugs with as little as 30k miles and others with valves that have severe carbon buildup on low mileage trucks.
