The don't buy turbos for longevity crowd cracks me up.

Turbos have been around a long time. Funny no one has issues buying a turbo diesel truck.

For towing the Ecoboost just makes more sense. Fatter, flatter torque curve that hits leak torque at 2500 rpm. You have to wind up the 5.0 to get to the peak torque on it.

Plus there are an insane amount of aftermarket bolt ons that have the Ecoboost making ridiculous power.

I don't know what your needs are but if you tow heavy remember this: There is no replacement for displacement.

I'm sure I've asked before but what kind of fuel mileage are you seeing? I've tried to find a 6.2 F150 equipped like I want (primarily Lariat crew 4x4 6.5' box) and apparently they are a unicorn.

Another happy 3.5 turbo guy here. MPGs depends on how heavy your foot is but make no mistake, it's a 1/2 ton towing machine.

I sold both for two years and I would pick the Eco over the 5.0L. The guys saying you get bad gas mileage(lead foot) or it didn't have power.... I never saw it. Out of all the trucks I sold, the only one that came in having a issue was one 5.0L. We got 12'-13' Ecoboost trade ins that had close to 100k mile on them that never had any issues, they just wanted to upgrade.

                Yep.

With the same gear ratio, the Ecoboost will out-pull the 5.0 V8. There may be more problems reported with the ecoboost, but there are also many more on the road than 5.0s.

                  ^^^^^ Old school mentality.

2.7L boosted engine kicked all V8 and even the ecodiesel's *** in towing.

16 or 17 hwy, 13.5 city. Tuner ,exhaust, k$n, leveling kit with Nittos. Harder to find, especially since they are stopping production. Again, I can't say enough about how much I enjoy this truck, 1500lbs lighter than raptor and will will flat pull.

Here is all I know......I have had two F150 FX4 Ecoboosts....a 2011 and I currently drive a 2013 that I have put 62,000 miles on. I love these trucks. The only "problems" I have had was that I had the front rotors turned at about 30,000 miles. I would get a very slight brake vibration when slowing down between 35 to 40 mph. No other problems....zero, zilch, nada. I get approximately 17.2 mpg mostly in town, stop and go rush hour traffic. I occasionally tow our 27' Jayco Jay Feather RV which weighs 4500 dry and approximately 6000 lbs loaded. The Ecoboost with 3.73 rear end (not max tow) will literally rip it down the highway. Does my mileage drastically go down? Yes. Of course it does. I get 8.5 to 9 mpgs towing our RV. My truck has the trailering package (again not max tow but the standard trailering package) and is rated at 9700. The two Ecoboosts that I have had are the two best trucks that I have ever owned. Great ride, very comfortable interior, and all around awesome trucks. As you will find most owners love them and some do not like them....just like most other topics discussed here. Maybe I have just been lucky with my two Ecoboosts, but I am considering another one. I traded my 2011 in with 71,000 miles on it and got $24,500.00 for it. I expect to get that much or more on my 2013. IMO they are excellent trucks.

I agree with what you're saying and I love my ecoboost bit there is something to be said about having and extra system with the possibility of failure. I just had to replace the catalytic converter on mine because of condensation, but it was covered by Ford.

If you buy a diesel you don't have a choice. Its going to have a turbo.

Turbos are an added maintenance item. They go out and are $$$ to replace.

Forced induction = replacement of displacement
