cAN YOU SAY YOUVE KILLED AN ANIMAL IF YOU NEVER ACTUALLY RECOVER IT? yESTERDAY i STUCK MY FIRST HOG!!!! wE SPENT A COUPLE OF HOURS LOOKING BUT NEVER FOUND THE HOG. wE HAD A GOOD BLOD TRAIL THAT WE FOLLOWED FOR ABUT 75 YARDS THEN IT JUST QUIT. tHE LAST SPOT OF BLOOD LOOKED LIKE HE MIGHT HAVE GONE DOWN IN THAT SPOT BECAUSE WAS HUGE BLOOD SPOT OF GOOEY BRIGHT RED BLOOD. bUT AFTER A GOOD SEARCH WE HAD TO GIVE UP, SO DOES THAT STILL QAULIFY AS MY FIRST BOWKILL? i KNOW ITS A CHEAPO WAY TO GET IT BUT YOUR FIRST IS STILL YOUR FIRST!!

Well, that's up to you I suppose, I'd say that's the first arrow you flung at a hog and hit....recovery to me is the name of the game. The big hogs can run a ways and pile up in some thick brush so they can be pretty tricky to find. My frist bowkill hog I found 100 yards in a bush and had to stick him again. It's a great learning experience and things will get easier from here on out...happy hunting.

Man I am gonna have to say NO......

I think you have to actually recover it to verify its passing to call it a kill. But like said above, you hit it and thats a start.

Good Job...I have, many times, seen a blood trail on a hog "stop", but the animal keeps going and lays down up to 50 yards or so from the last blood. We used to make a big circle after we lost blood and usually find the animal. Now we use tracking dogs though! They make life a little easier. How did you feel about your shot placement?

Do you call it a catch when you hook a fish and get it almost all the way to the boat and he spits it out????????????????

              Try Try again.....

There ya go, no matter if you ever recover an animal your daughter was there the first time you attempted to harvest with a bow. That in itself is plenty of good juju for any one!!!!!!

Keep it up! It will happen and then you will truly be hooked!

Who better than to spend a hunt with than a youngster. Just make sure you explain to her that non-recoveries sometimes happen and Y'all did all that you could to try and find the animal. Don't let it get you down, it happens to everyone at some point. You will get'em next time... Good luck!!

I would say no. Because you can't say for sure that it is dead and you didn't recover it. Just my 2 cents.
