    Welfare?

It is sad that they even have to make this a law. Finally someone is realizing that people cheat and abuse the system.

Should have been implemented long ago. I seen a big argument on Facebook about spending gov funding on steaks and lobster. A girl was adamant that there is nothing wrong with that, as both foods provide nutritious protein. Had to shake my head and back click.

Stupid. Just like making a rule that women getting child support can't spend the money on certain things. Sure they don't spend those exact bills on the extra vacation because they use their own money they have extra now on it.

Just cut off welfare or let people in need line up to get free beans, cheese, and rice.

It's abused, I know several people on food stamps who say their husbands are not with them, which they are or say they are raising someone's kids which they are not

Yep. I used to work with a woman that divorced her husband to get more benefits. They stayed together but now she was a single mom. Eats me up

It was implemented long ago, but then they did away with it. Before EBT cards, there were actual food stamps. It was like Monopoly money, basically, and it could only be used for basic food items. Food stamps couldn't be used for anything else. Of course, there were ways around it back then, to some degree. Grocery stores had to give the food stamp user change in real money, so they could get a dollar or two here and there in real money that could then be used for other stuff. Also, they would sell food stamps to somebody else in exchange for real money, beer, drugs, or whatever. As bad as the abuses were back then, it wasn't as bad as it is now with free money on EBT cards that work everywhere. That's just insane.

Used to buy ribeyes 50 cents on the dollar in Natchitoches in college at a grocery in the hood from food stamp folks. Screwed up and went in there one time in s hurry to get some lemons and limes for margaritas and paid with a $20 bill and they had to go through every register in the store to get enough cash for change!!!

Seems to me this is just as bad as the person who outright lies and cheats to abuse the system .

To hell with that, go back to where the goverment gives out powdered milk, canned cheese, canned vegtables, canned meat etc. Staple foods that are needed to live but nothing desireable. Make it to where when people get a chance they will get off the government tit!! No funny money at all.

Welfare is supposed to be a hand up, not a lifestyle. Abusers should feel hard candy after the first warning.

Additionally, being on government assistance is a conflict of interest and if you couldn't vote while receiving assistance, there would never be a democrat elected to office again.
