    Breast cancer in dogs

Anyone had a dog have breast cancer ? What did you do , and how long did the dog live ? I think my 10 year old Pitbull has breast cancer taking her to the vet in the morning .. One other question did the dog act any different than before ? My dog acts just like she always has just alittle slower seeing how she's 10.. Thanks for any help.

I have Golden retriever and we found out she has breast cancer on 9/11/2013. The vet told us she could pass tomorrow or in 5 years you just never know. She is 6 1/2 and hasn't slowed down a bit!

I had a 10 year old mutt that developed a mammary tumor. The vet removed it for $300 and she died of a heart attack 2 months later.

Our red heeler had cancer and we let her go until she acted like she was ready to give in and we had her put down but as long as they are still going strong let them stay. You will know when it is time

Just had a mast tumor removed from my 3 year old lab. It's a type of breast cancer. Vet said they believe they got it all. They showed me how to check her lymph nodes to make sure it doesn't show up there. She has a bit more energy since the surgery. So far so good.

I have a 12 year old Aussie now that had a mammary gland tumor removed 3 1/2 years ago, when I got her as a rescue. Then last August she developed another one, which got removed. This week I noticed she has four little lumps (thumbnail size) near or on half her teats, which the vet says is likely breast cancer again, but he hasn't looked at her yet. She's very stoic so I can't tell if she's in pain or not.
The vet says unfortunately, breast cancer in dogs has a 50% chance of developing a second time, and if it does, then it will keep developing. I don't think we will do another surgery at her age.
If this is your dog's first time, I would have the tumor removed. She might live another 4- 6 years, if she's had good care her whole life. If it comes back, then that's another discussion.

Well, the cancer got her. I put her to sleep on Tuesday. The more I realized her behavior was because of pain, the more I realized how much pain she was in.

Had a Bassett that developed Lymphoma....put him on strong pain and nausea meds and he lived around a month after he was diagnosed. I noticed the lumps around his neck and took him immediately.
