    Torn ACL and more

Two weeks ago I was playing in a spirited one on one basketball game. I drove right. Then snap, crackle, and pop. I ended up screaming for about 10 seconds. My opponent/ really good friend helped me get to emergency care. I visited the Orthopedist the next week and finally had an MRI and got the results.

    1. Full Thickness ACL Tear
    2. Tore both meniscus
    3. MCL sprain
    4. Bone bruising
    5. and to kick it all off I have a growth growing off my knee.

    Surgery is scheduled for 5-14.

Guys take it easy and remember you aren't as young as you used to be.

Push hard in rehab. You'll be glad you did. I had ACL reconstruction surgery on both knees (a few years apart). The one I rehabbed hard feels good. Slacked off on the second one and am wishing I had worked harder.

Sorry to hear. I MRI revealed a partial but significant tear of my ACL and a deterioration of both meniscus. Since they would have to do a full ACL reconstruction to fix it I have just put it off. I am sure one day it will go ahead and pop and I will just worry about it then...LOL. Good luck on your surgery.

Been through 2 complete ACL tears an miniscus tears on the same knee first one at 17 years old second at 19... Both playing soccer and both on the left knee... It's no fun sittin on the sidelines and also missing valuable time to be recruited for college ball

Had reconstructive ACL on my left knee about 15 years ago now. I've got full function and it doesn't give me any issues other than just some general soreness in cold weather. If you rehab it right, they say it's supposed to be physically stronger than before. It's all in your head that you got to get over it though. I still favor that knee to this day just thinking about how bad it hurt when I first did it. I'm 40 now so my activities are hunting, fishing and golf. Kind of hard to hurt your knee doing those.

About a month ago, during spring break, I was working cattle and hit my knee on a 2x4 trying to get out of the way of a bull calf. My knee swelled up pretty good and I could barely walk for the next two days. Fast forward two weeks, it's still giving me a lot of trouble and pain. Go to the doctor and get an x-ray, she says it's not broken, but might be a torn meniscus. Two weeks later I go get a MRI, doctor looks at and tells me I have severe bone contusions and a partially torn ACL. Now, I have an appointment this Thursday with an orthopedic. All this trouble just from working cattle!

Good luck with your surgery Muley!

I am 36 and been playing basketball regularly since I was a kid. I play on average 2 times a week 5 on 5. That being said, I have never had a major injury until the end of February when I did the same thing. I tore my ACl and meniscus and had the bone bruise. I feel your pain...literally.

I had my surgery on March 17th. I actually just got back from rehab. I am walking without crutches now and for the most part have a normal gait again. The terrible thing is that I have 2-3 months before I can even lightly jog. I will be praying for your surgery and recovery. I am only about 6 weeks ahead of you.

Note to self: basketball is very hard on the knees. Very hard.
