Must Eat Places in 50 mile radius Lampasas

We have been living on our place west of Lampasas for around a year now. There are a very limited number of places to eat in Lampasas and you can only eat so many Storms Specials. We have hit Bar D's in San Saba for Fish Friday, Asian Buffet in Killeen, Ken's in Marble Falls and Maxican in Burnet. We stop at some of the chains along the Central Texas Expressway. A couple of places we like in Cove, BBQ in Cherokee and Llano but we need some change. What are you favorite places around the area? Diners, Dives, Fancy, hole in the wall, BBQ and other in this area. Thanks for your secrets. ET

Toups Boudin downtown on the square......Northwest corner....limited hours right now, but rumor has it that they will be opening up just north of town on 281 on the left...just past FM580 East soon, (the old Two Brothers BBQ)

I discovered this weekend that the Maxican has closed. We ate at Los Palmas (or maybe Dos Palmas) on the "Riverwalk" there in Burnet, and it was pretty good. Service was terrible, food was good.

Nami's in Killeen is pretty good. It's a Japanese steakhouse.

I always ate breakfast at El rodeo in Lampasas when I hunted there. Eve's Cafe was pretty good also.

There is a little café in Evant. Either the 281 café or the Evant Café can't remember the name. Some of the best home cooking you can find!

I saw the biggest rat in Los Palmas run across the back room while having a dinner meeting there. Won't ever eat at that place again. Hated to see the Maxican close but hopefully something takes there place.

I love their jäger schnitzel there and fresh bread.

Eat at the Kountry Kitchen in Lampasas, that's the best place in town. Green Fly BBQ between Lampasas and Burnet is the best BBQ any where around that part of the country.
