    Neuter or not

I have a 4 year old male lab who is great retriever and well behaved......until recently. It seem some female dogs in the area have come into heat. Some mile or more away. When it hits him he is gone, ignores all hand signs or voice command and the shock collar. Vet tells many dogs suffer impact injury because of this I.e. car hits etc. For those who have experience with dogs that they use to hunt, any negative effect after the dog is neutered?

    Thanks for any assistance

It fixed my fox terrier that I used to have. He didn't get fat but he was pretty energetic.

Neutering won't affect your dogs hunting abilities whatsoever, but it certainly will help keep him home. I wouldn't expect his behavior to change overnight though since you've waited so long to do it. I've had a few male dogs that I neutered too late in life that it didn't help with the problem behavior.
