    What would you do?

Lets say you had son playing High School baseball, and he pops out to the center fielder. He is half way to second sees the catch and turns around and walks back to the dugout. When the coach sees him walking he tells him to run, and he does a butt kick run the last 10 feet then runs in place for a second before entering the dugout.

What would you do if you were the parent?

What would you do if you were the coach?

    Hypothetically speaking

If I was the coach I would have him running after the game. As a parent I would be laughing on the inside thinking about how my son turned out just like me at that age...

I don't really understand the question....

Was he doing it to be a smart arse? Or was he doing what he was told?

We were taught to run everywhere when on the field. No walking allowed.

If I was the coach lets just say he would get some running practice at the next practice.

As a parent, my son would be getting a strong talking too about respecting others. As a coach, that kid has a 'special' practice the rest of the year, possibly benched for a few games as well.

                  ^^^^ Pretty much!

I would've benched him for the rest of the game.

As a coach, my players (and their parents) know that if there's a public display of smart-assery, when it comes time for the next practice they may as well leave their bat and glove in the bag.

Parent: Compliment him on running out a pop fly. Then explain that if coach doesn't want him walking off the field, he's got no choice because he's already proven he can run. And don't disrespect the coach.

Coach: You goes some running to do Lucy. Go do your best Forest Gump impression until I say stop. Second offense would get him the Forest Gump treatment and a ride on the pine until attitude improves.

If the boys baseball coach doubles as a football coach like ours did. He should be in fear for his life come two-a-days.

I would say some extra running at home for you AND practice would be in order.

My Son is good at an early age. He had an issue rolling eyes at teammates that dropped his throws to first base. He's a great kid and once the mistake was addressed, he did some running and it hasnt happened since.

I would imagine hes a good kid, so once acknowledged, I wouldnt see it being a recurring problem.

As a coach, you don't walk on my field. You run or you sit. You're a representative of the school whether you like it or not. Act like one.

As a parent, you don't show up the rest of the team and the coach. Having a problem with a coach is one thing, but you show respect and don't air your dirty laundry on the field.

As a coach I would bench him. He can run in place in the dugout doing butt kicks while the team is at bat and high knees when they are on the field for the rest of the game. Mucho running at the next practice.

As a parent - show him how easy the coach was on him.

Playing baseball should be fun. Sounds like he was having a little fun.
