I love our local feed stores. The dogs and cats know me there. But sometimes I'm in the mood to have something show up at my doorstep in 48 hours without having to actually go anywhere.

I bought a bottle of Martin's 36.8% Permethrin last week to try. 32oz bottle should last a while.

13.3% was $21 for a quart at the local feed store. I've used it to dip the dogs as well (lower concentration than for application to clothing or surface pest control). I make up a couple gallons of the .5% solution in a backpack sprayer for application to clothing.

What % are you using to dip your dogs ? I also need to spray down my chickens .

So if I wanted to mix a gallon to come out to .05 % would that equall 6.4 oz of chemicals to water ?

Also, can I use this stuff to kill a half acre of fleas and roaches? What technique recommended?

Just mixed a solution like Snakelover suggested, sprayed my snake boots and jeans and going to test them out tomorrow. Going to a friends lease to take down his feeders, blind platforms and pens on a lease he lost. With all the rains we have had in this area in the last couple of weeks, this should be a good test on the strength of this mixture of Pemerithin. Weeds should be at least 3' to 4' high right now north of Matador!

The dilution instructions come with it. For a dog dip it said 8 oz in 16.5 gal of water. I scaled that down to a 5 gallon bucket full and sponged it onto the dogs. Then took what was left and poured it down a number of fire ant mounds. Again, this was for the 13.3% version, I'm sure that a guide will come with whatever size and strength you purchase.

                        Reviving a good thread...

How well does it work to deter/kill mosquitos? I've read a lot in this thread about ticks and chiggars but not much about those eagle-sized vampire bugs that try and carry me out of the river bottoms every year.

If I were to spray my yard like some of you have said, will it harm my bird dogs?

Does anyone else have any experience with using the Sawyer "Picaridin" lotion that was mentioned?

I'M DECLARING WAR ON THOSE FLYING BLOOD SUCKERS

Permethrin is the synthetic version of Pyrethrins which is derived from the Chrysanthemum flower. By some of the real stuff and compare the cost.
The real stuff is much better and safer and lasts longer. It is what is used in dairy barn automatic spray systems.

Thanks for the info, muzzlebrake. But I think I'm going to stick with permethrin because it's cheaper..

Is it safe to spray the Martin's perm 10% (diluted of course) on my hunting clothes? Or should I just use Sawyer's perm for that and use the Martin's on my blinds?

How does it affect dogs if you spray your lawn one day and the dogs eat some grass the next? I have held off spraying this year because I wasnt sure and I surely dont want to kill our dogs.

I just noticed that the price has dropped to $10.49 on the Sawyer Products Premium Permethrin Clothing Insect Repellent at Amazon, so I thought I would bump this thread.
