    Update...

Traildust - DUDE...you need to put those pictures you sent me in the DIY section as a "How To" for winch up feeders. I like the idea of the flat steel to keep the lid from hitting the cable. How did you make the barrel bail with the offset?

Gusman - my next one will be square tubing. My design skills are good. My welding is so-so. It will be built from scratch.
My brother sent me a care package... From Boss Buck.

A top plate, the barrel bail and a 2000 # winch.

Snakelover - David, I still have the winch you gave me for the skinning rack... works great I like it better than the one from Boss Buck. Figure I will swap them out.

So...with the care package...this one will be built with pipe I acquire. My next one will be from scratch and square tubing.

with 15' legs and a double pulley system...how much cable should I need.

Oh...Does anyone know off the top of your head what the angle is for the top plate/leg stubs for the Boss Buck?

I've used 1" water well pipe on mine. It has a 1000-1500 lb hand crank winch on it. the Barrell will hold 250-300 lbs of corn.

I think the BossBuck is 20deg. It says in the description.
My cable has never touched the barrel. The upper pulley is off center and an eye bolt is center. With a pulley on the barrel bail and the upper pulley (dbl pulley = easier to lift) the cable doesn't come close to the barrel.
