    TC Flash Capacitor

Hi, I have a Moultrie 100 (oldschool) trail cam that I picked up at Cabela's bargain cave last year. Believe it or not, it's been working great. I like it because it uses a 6V battery rather than D cells and with a solar panel stays well charged. The only problem is that it is now giving me a message that says, "Battery On" and won't take pics when it says this. I talked with Moultrie and they said that it is probably because the flash capacitor has gone out. So, I can just turn the flash off and use it as a daytime only cam. But, I would rather fix it if I can (it is way out of warranty). Does anyone know about changing a flash capacitor. They appear to be pretty cheap, but I don't know how hard it is. Any help would be appreciated.

It shouldn't be too hard. Take it apart and find the cap. You should be able to look at it and decide: 1, if you think you can replace it and; 2, determine if you can locate an exact replacement.

A little desolder braid or a solder sucker, a good iron and you should be good to go.

    Good luck.

      Fairly easy to resolder.

But you'd better hope the capacitor is discharged before you grab hold of the contacts. Or you could find yourself flinging a camera across the room.
