    small engine repair (2-cycle engine)

I have an Echo trimmer that has been giving me fits. It will start, but dies when you try to give it the gas. I changed the carb on it and thought I had it fixed, but it has started again. I have adjusted the high throttle screw to no avail. Last Saturday, it wouldn't start at all, and I realized that the primer bulb was cracked. I am hoping I can replace that and get it to start again. Also, most of the time, when you push the primer bulb in, it will not come back out. I either need some advice on what to do, or the name and number of a reliable mechanic around NW San Antonio that won't charge me more than the trimmer is worth. Thanks.

Mine does the same thing. I cleaned the carb, replaced the fuel lines. and primmer bulb but it still will only idle. Sometimes I can get it to run by mostly closing the choke.

Yes you can replace bulb but would do the fuel lines also while your at it. They are probably bad too or will be soon (stiff if not cracked).

Fuel lines and bulb. Someting may be sucking air. Most of those are pretty bullet proof. But ethanol now days is making good equipment turn into junk quick.

Replace the stone filter in the tank. Sounds clogged

I forgot. I changed the fuel lines and stone filter as well when I changed the carb. I'm about to think I need to drill a small hole in the stone filter to allow the fuel to flow better.

Try removing this filter, if the primer bulb pops back out . Then you should replace the fuel filter stone .

How long did the weed eater sit before being used after the carb was changed?

I changed it last year, but have used it several times since. I can usually throttle it up a little bit...enough to trim lightly. Sometimes, after it warms up for about 20 minutes, it will run fine.

Hmmm you can always try and pull the carb back apart and clean it. You never know. Throw a new plug n it too. Or look up small engine repair in the phone book. Call around and talk to people. Take it to the first guy that sounds like "a good ole boy" seems to work for me

I forgot to say that it was doing the same thing as yours.
