Had a great weekend with the kayaks camping on Lake Buchanan.. the kids were able to just take them right off the Cove we were camping at.
I was running a Jug In The Cove, got two Gar, this was the small one, and 5 cats. Some white bass came schooling in chasing minnows Sunday morning so got a few before my only lure they were biting broke off

Haha..only one...There was seven there though for my daughters 10th bday. ..Some of em never seen a gar before..that was a trip for them....The bigger gar I caught I loaded on a kids yak, he said he wanted to bring it in, it flopped out immediately

Reading this thread and I just made plans to go tomorrow morning. Unfortunately I’ll just be bank fishing, there’s no water in Houston I’m brave enough to risk falling into.

I fished my first ever kayak tournament on Saturday at Lake Fairfield and man it was a blast! There were over 100 anglers competing for an almost $2000 first place prize! First cast was at 7, but I wasn’t able to get a fish in the boat until 10. I had never fished Fairfield before and it was pretty tough conditions. I ended up taking 41st out of 109 anglers with 67.5”. Winner had 89.75”. Broke off on a really nice fish as I was grabbing the net. It swam right under the yak and broke my line. Having that fish in the boat might have put me in the money. Here are some pics from the tourney.
