    New Gate apprx cost?

What would a gate setup similar to this cost? Any ideas?

I am wanting to spruce up my little ranch and the current gate/entrance isn't that great...

I think he is wanting to know what a gate, like the one pictured, would cost. I don't think that's his gate. That or I read it completely wrong...

LOL...this is the gate/setup I want to get...

My current one isn't this good...

And yes I don't want/need a fancy gate with wildlife, name, etc etc I understand that they are nice but that's not my style...

I just reread your post. I cant help on cost, but what ever you do make sure you have a header across the top of the gate post. Are you going to do it yourself or contract it out?

Its time to start saving money, It's not cheap being a landowner. Got a pipe yard in Corsicana on Business 45. I have some manual post hole diggers and a small gas welder and usually around on Saturday if you need some help to tackle yourself. I am east of Fairfield, so Purdon not too far.

The gate itself is only $125

Maybe a dumb question, but tell me the reason for the header? See some with and some without. Going to need to build one for myself in the near future. Thanks

ALot of it is just looks. But the main reason structure wise is your posts are tied together and with heavy gates it will keep from pulling the post out of the ground.

A good stinger down in the ground is the most important thing on the hing side of any gate post. Especially if their is no overhead.

IMO i wouldnt do an overhead on a piece of property or barn gates or to a field etc. You never know when you may need to bring in a big piece of equipment. Now your house driveway would be fine.

dclifton is spot on about the benefits of a header. My header sets 16 foot above the ground, with pipe sunk 8 foot in the ground. Gate hangs perfect with no sag ever. To many people fail to set post deep enough to support the weight of a gate. I follow the 1/3rd rule on fence post, 1/3 rd below ground, 2/3 rd above ground.
