I have never been on a guided hunt and have one planned for July. I will be doing any skinning and capping that needs done. What amount should the guide be tipped?

my hunts
$1075 Axis (got a great deal on the buck in my avatar) tip $150 (the guy was pumped)
$1025 41 inch Oryx same guy same amount same reaction lol
$800 ram hunt took the guy to lunch and gave him $100. Not so pumped.
Guides are all different. When I guided I got everything from $40 from first time hunters up to $600 for a duck hunt. Everyone is different but as a guide not an outfitter, tips is where I made my money. 100$ is generally a good starting place IMO. Bring it in $20's for the if situations
if he was horrible
if he screwed you over
if he did not work hard for you to get an animal
Then you get to take the 20's home with you that he didn't get

10% is a good number but it certainly can vary.
2 Axis trophies, wt buck, and two does- 5 guys at $1500 a piece- I got paid a $200 tip and was was tipped for each animal I cleaned. I was plenty happy. Did my tips total 10%? Negative- but I was certainly content. The clients were fairly easy going, mainly did their own thing and cleaned up their messes, and it was a good successful weekend. I think each guide and each hunt is different.

Here is my $.02. A hunt last fall we booked a quick 2 day hunt. The guide busted his behind talking over the map of the ranch with us and weather effects for each hunt period. We didn't end up taking any animals that hunt. We were more than please with the assistance of the guide and as stated he worked his tail of to ensure we were set up best as he could make us. We say plenty and it was more of a "get away from everything and have a great time" then it was actually taking an animal. The guide made the trip worth while and provided great assistance and advice. The hunt was just under $500 each, for me and my uncle but we both agreed the guide was top notch and more than deserving. Cause we could, we each gave the guide $150 as we felt he more than deserved it.

Wanting to bring this back up again since I will be going on a "meat hunt" at day hunt price. Owner of ranch is old friend and he is supplying a guide.
Now I am confused/concerned. Tipping the guide at 15% of the day hunt price isn't much, especially if he turns me onto several does and a pig or two.
He is giving up whatever else may need to do to guide me. My hunt will be $100/day so even 20% would be too low.
What would TBH recommend?
I'm thinking pay the guide the same as the day?

For 5 - 10 day hunts I have tipped 100-150 a day, some of this money went to the wrangler and cook if we had them, 10 to 20 percent on a 20 K dollar hunt could get a little pricey. I killed my Brown Bear on the third day of a 10 day hunt, guide was done except for the caping and fleshing for the rest of the trip, I gave him 1000 dollars and my Knives of Alaska.
