    Houston Area Pool Remodeling

I have an 11 year old pool that needs some attention. Needs new coping, new waterline tile, some lighting work, new deck overlay with stamped concrete (I'll self-perform concrete work), etc...... It doesn't really "need" new plaster but I'm doing so much other work that I may consider doing that before it needs it.

Any TBHers do pool design and/or construction?
Have any recommendations of someone that you've used?

I would contact Oscar ( Landrover) since he just GC'ed his pool. I bet he can give you the inside track.

Call Prestige Gunite, they do not do remodels but they work for lots of builders, they can give you a reference, I don't have the number but I am sure you can look it up.

All I can offer is if you want Pebbletec renovation in your pool, from what I have been told is that only 2 companies actually are licensed to do it in Houston. Adams and Modern Method. They do it for all the other companies that offer it. I called both, Adams called me back and Modern Method did not. Adams saved me about $1300 off the quote a regular pool company (middle man) quoted me. They did a great job with good service. The guy that came out for the quote and follow up was very helpful.

And I do recommend Pebbltec if you re-plaster your pool.

Fill it in with concrete and don't worry about it anymore I have a good family friend that does pool work, but I think they might only do Commercial size stuff when it comes to build/remodeling

If you want new tile, you are going to have to get it replastered.

A good way to find somebody would be to go sit at the Mastertile Pool Tile division and take some numbers off the side of the truck.

Why do you need to replaster? Curios cause I want to redo my tile as well.

If you retile, without replastering, it can leave a white line between your new tile and the old plaster. Pool tiles are not all the same size, so you have to adjust

Eastex Pools is the way to go if you are looking to redo your pool. They are a local company and do some amazing work.

Some of your plaster will come off with the tile and it will look like **** if you don't replaster.

If your pool is old enough to need new tile, you need new plaster anyway.
