    Who "bowhunts" with a pistol?

Search function isn't working for me

I'm curious who "bowhunts" with their pistol. I'm talking 40 yds and under. No scope makes it even cooler.

What caliber are you using? Share some pics and tips

    I'm talking gun hunting here

i always take my pistol with me, but i don't hunt with it.

it's just in case i run into anything that i don't have time to knock an arrow for...you know.

I plan on using my glock 20 this year. Going to get it milled for a red dot. Plan on shooting out to about 30 yards but after some practice I'll be able to see actually how far I can shoot comfortably

I should clarify...i mean who goes out plannig to hunt with a pistol. By "bowhunting" I mean close shots, tree stand, ground blind, etc.

I think he means hunt with his handgun in bow stands.

I have been for years. I've hunted with a 44 SBH, 45 Colt Bisley, S and W 41 mag in couple barrel lengths, and Freedom Arms 454

I got out of it and got into open sighted leverguns and never looked back. My favorite is a Winchester Trapper 30-30 and Marlin 35.

If I'm off base as far as what you are asking, I always have my Glock 30 with me.

I carry my 44 mag with me always when I'm bowhunting. I've shot a couple hogs, a turkey, and a doe, but that's it. I'm usually bow first, but occasionally I'll get a wild hair to pull out the pistol.

I did two years ago, 25 yard shot behind the shoulder with a 357, red tip 140 grain hornady. no exit but it did frag into pieces. Killed her dead as a door nail after a 50 yard death run. Still using the 357, biggest handgun I own but going to upgrade to a Barnes solid tsx. I want a hole in and out. It was just as much fun as bowhunting.

On occasion. New Model Navy 44 cap and ball revolver. This little buck was taken at a little over 40 yards with a neck shot. Have taken numerous hogs and javies as well. It's fun any way you look at it.

That is pretty cool! As far as OP, I always carry my CZ 75 in .40, but haven't actually hunted deer with a handgun, yet.

I got this one several years ago with my Ruger 9mm. One shot just behind the shoulder at about 40 yards. He was a 130". 8 pt
