    An Aggie and a Longhorn

Keith Moreland told this story while broadcasting the game during the 5th inning of yesterday's game between UT and KSU.

Seems that Davey Johnson's Reds (he was the manager by then) lost a game (one of 17 played between them) to the Cubbies, circa 1995. Johnson played baseball for the Ags in '62, while Moreland was Texas' catcher for their CWS Championship team in 1975. They met while both played for the Phillies in 1978.

Johnson was quoted in the next day's paper as saying he wished he had a dime for every line drive the Reds hit right to a Cub in that game. Moreland read the quote, and sent him a one dollar bill, explaining that should cover it.

Johnson sent it back to him, signed: Gig 'em.
