Havent tried it but I'm very intrigued by it for my next yard.

Lots of different varieties being developed. There is a company out of Colorado that has a new variety.

This company based in the hill country has an interesting mix as well called Thunder Turf
Specializing in native wildflower and prairie grass seeds from the Texas-Oklahoma-Louisiana region.

I recommend some Carl Spackler turf:

This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff.

      Cannonball comin.....

I bought some for shady areas around my house about this time last year. Very expensive. Planted according to instructions that said the grass will spread and fill in within a year. Been a year and the plugs look just like they did the day I planted them, still a foot apart. No more for me.
