Looks to be a ruptured abscess. Looks to be healing up fine. Typically it's an infection under the skin. Swells up and pops daring out the **** and bacteria. Usually heal up just fine.

Either Abscess or a snake bite. Either way, looks like he is doing better! As long as he doesn't get a secondary infection, he'll make it!
