    Should i use .223 or 5.56

Well I have official decided to become a AR-15 owner after months of hesitation. Im going to buy Rock River Arms delta car mid-length. My only problem is I dont know if I should shoot .223 or 5.56. The gun says I can shoot both but I know I should stick to one specific caliber so its more accurate. So if anyone could help me on this it would be much appreciated!

    What does the barrel say?

I am betting the lower says multi, which it sounds like what you are talking about.

556 if it is a 223 wylde or 556 nato chamber, 223 if it is a .223 remington chamber. 556 will give better velocity.

obvious for most, but don't shoot 5.56 in a .223 only chamber...

I have SW MP AR and barrel is stamped both rounds.

I find the Nato round to be the guns choice and mine as well.

Depends on barrel too. Typically your match and hunting ammo are produced in 223 and yield good results out of both 5.56 and 223 barrels. If your gun has a typical 16" govt profile then don't be expecting clover leaf patterns at 100 yds although it could be possible those guns weren't made for 1/2 MOA accuracy. If it's a 20" heavy barrel with a target crown then I'd expect pretty dang good accuracy out of it. Typically ice found that nato 556 stuff is slightly more accurate than fmj brass and slightly less accurate than match or good hunting 223 stuff. Again this is just my experience on my guns but I think you'll find similiar. Oh and 223 is much easier to find than anything in 556 from what I've seen. Welcome to the club and be prepared, it's like an addiction! Have fun shooting

if the barrel states both like you say, then shoot either. i dont think hunting ammo is available in 556 though.
