I have been looking to buy a pellet gun for a while but just didnt want to spend the $ and I really wanted a quiet gun. The only experience i have with a "real" pellet gun was I did purchase a stoeger pellet gun around a year or 2 ago. That gun was insanely loud. Way louder than a .22 rifle and not good for my backyard use....
On to the review....
I came across a pretty good deal at Academy on a Umarex .177 Fusion on Friday. So I went home and did some research and it had some pretty good reviews. Alot of them were saying it was real quiet. Saturday rolls around and I do my family stuff all day and never made it back to Academy. Saturday night I start thinking I should have just bought it... Thinking that there wont be one there on Sunday morning. Sunday morning finally comes up and I scoop up one of my kids and head to Academy and wait for the doors to open.... Like a kid.
The regular price was $179.99 on sale for $71.98.
This gun is super quiet. Not one dog barked when i was shooting in my backyard. Hollywood movie silencer quiet... Very Impressive. It also has zero kick.
The gun is light. I dont know the weight but I could easily walk around carrying it. Compared to some of the other ones i was holding at Academy this one seemed alot lighter. When thinking of weight I put into consideration my 4 and 6 year old and how long they could carry it before they ask me to.
The box said 750fps. I have nothing else to go off of other than that. It seems fast enough to me to take out a bird or rabbit. I dont think they could jump the pellet. I would say even a well placed shot on a coon or possumn at 20 yds. I would not try it on a hog size animal though.
I was shooting at around 10yds to sight in the scope. I was putting pellets inside other pellet holes on the paper. I moved back to around 25 yds. I was hitting around nickel size groups. Btw I am not good at gun shooting.... The scope could use an upgrade. It is a fixed scope. The center is clear but the outside part is sort of blurry. Almost like a matrix type effect. Maybe all scopes are like that, like I said I am not a gun shooter...
The part where you put the pellets into the gun is a small area and under the scope. It is hard to put a pellet into. Its doable but you will have to pay attention while loading a pellet. No way you could do it with your eyes closed.
It uses 2 co2 canisters. I was nervous about buying a co2 gun because I didnt want to have to deal with having to buy them all the time.... I bought a 25 pack so I should be set for a while. The reviews all said to follow the instructions to a T. So I did. No problems but it defintly could be an easier process than what they designed for the gun. The reviews said you will start to lose power at around 50 shots. I dont know how many shots I fired but I say around 40 and its still shooting strong and on target.
I purchased two kinds of ammo. Both Gamo, one being Red Fire and the other was Silent Cat. The silent cat was a heavier pellet @ 10.5 gr. vs the red fire @ 7.8 gr. The Silent Cat was defintlely quieter than the Red Fire but it did seem to get to the target slower. That could have been my mind playing tricks though. I had no problems with either ammo and they were both hitting in the same spots on the target.
If you are looking for a super quiet pellet gun that is reasonably priced I would recommend this gun. Even though it doesnt go 1200 fps I would still recommend it even at the full price. The positives are way more than the couple of negatives it has.
