Spent Some Time In The ER This Weekend

At about 3 o'clock on Friday, I started feeling pretty bad. At first I thought it was just a stomach bug or something, but soon realized I was passing another kidney stone. By 6 o'clock, I was rolling around on the floor screaming, as well as vomiting from the pain. I've passed a lot of stones (I'm a "chronic stone producer" - around 30 stones in 12 years), but this one was crazy. My wife took me to the ER when I couldn't bear it anymore. After some IV fluids, and 4 mg of Morphine, I finally got some relief. At about 9, we decided I was good enough to head back home with some strong meds. On the way out of the ER, I had to pee really bad so I stopped to use the bathroom. Crazy enough, the stone made it's exit right there in the ER restroom. It was 3.4mm, which is not at all my biggest stone, but it passed from kidney to toilet in just under 6 hours. The speed of the stone is apparently what the Docs say caused the overwhelming pain. I've got a bit of an infection, but I'm on the mend for now.

Unfortunately, the scan they did in the ER showed 4 more stones in my kidney, all fairly significant in size. Guess I've got more to look forward to!

**Disclaimer** - I know all the "typical" causes of these stones, so I've been down all those roads and tried just about everything. It's a genetic thing in my family, so we just go from specialist to specialist trying to find something that will work. For all of you guys tempted to tell me to "quit drinking cokes, tea, coffee, etc....", I've heard it a few times....

My brother had issues with stones for a while, I did some research for him. Have you tried drinking lemon juice everyday? It's suppose to dissolve them and keep them from forming.

As crazy as it is, I'm in pretty much your same boat. Was dying Thursday morning. Wife took me to urgent care and the x-rays showed three stones. All of which had already left my kidney. I was sick earlier in the week and a urine sample showed my body as being dehydrated so I took three hours of IVs. Not sure if I've ****** them out or not yet. Headed to the urologist tomorrow. This was my first time with kidney stones and I thought the world was coming to an end. Body was pretty much paralyzed and I was sweating my *** off. Excruciating pain in my groin and lower back. Couldn't even stand up. Holy **** they hurt!

I have been told by more than one woman that childbirth was easier than passing a kidney stone

I feel for anybody who has them

They look like grassburs when they are magnified, lots of spines all over them

Hope you find some relief, I've passed two and that was two more than I ever want to experience again.

as many as Will has had, I'd just take one of them off the shelf and stick it in a cup of lemon juice to see what happens.

sorry to hear it Will I know from personal experience exactly how you were feeling.

curled up on the floor of the shower, just letting the water hit me, puking and having to be driven to the ER for some morphine.

then the second round of morphine because the first one didn't touch the pain.

                sucks.....

Plus we get pain control/epidurals when we give birth, so it might not be a fair comparison! But then again we grow them for 9 months prior to their exit......kidding!!
